For our group 4 project we compared the chemical and biological contents of two different locations on West Lake. For each of our respective sciences our independent variables will be the locations in which the water sample was taken from. We were trying to see if there would be a relationship between the frequency of the wave motion on the surface of the water, the presence of soil sediments in the water, and the biodiversity in the water.

For Physics, the frequency of waves on the surface of the lake was measured. For Chemistry, a turbidity test and water hardness test was carried out to determine which of the locations are more polluted by soil sediments. For Biology, Simpsons diversity indexes were done to show the biodiversity in the two locations. The results showed that that Area A had lower wave frequency, less turbidity, and more organisms while Area B had higher wave frequency, more turbidity, and less organisms available in the water sample. For ESS, fishermen were interviewed for their fishing schedules and habits as well as their knowledge on the areas that are less polluted.
